Name: Mel
Age: 30

Other Characters: Cyril Ashara, Felix Alexius
Interests: Mostly interested in having a more down to earth character than Cyril who also can be a bit more bad ass than Felix. Ellie is also just kind of an awesome character who could use some friends. That and she has a unique hook thanks to her immunity.

History
Ellie on The Last of Us wiki.
* Ellie was born in Denerim. Her father left her mother, Anna, before Ellie was born. Anna was able cope thanks to the support of her good friend Marlene but died during childbirth.
* Ellie was raised in Chantry orphanages. She grew up to be a bit of a troublemaker which led to her being shifted around Denerim to different Chantry-run institutions.
* Ellie met a girl named Riley at one of these orphanages. They grow close.
* During this time, a group called the Fireflies formed. They sought to stop some of the crime in Denerim. Riley wanted to join them. When the the pair witnessed a fight between the Fireflies and a rival gang they encountered Marlene, who had become a Firefly leader. Ellie knew something was off about the group, even without being aware that they were secretly fighting for mage freedom.
* The Blight happened. Riley became even more motivated. She told Ellie she was going to join the Fireflies unless Ellie wanted to say anything to stop her. Eventually, Ellie was able to be honest and asked Riley not to join. Then they kissed.
* When the archdemon attacked, Ellie wanted to run but Riley insisted they stay to help people. Ellie watched as darkspawn tore Riley apart. While trying to save Riley, Ellie ended up coated in darkspawn blood and swallowed quite a bit of it.
* She didn't die. Instead, she went to Marlene. Marlene, who had been injured during the attack, hired a man named Joel to take Ellie to a group of apostates who could use that immunity to find a treatment for the Blight. Marlene planned to use the treatment as leverage for mage freedom.
* The journey was hard but somehow Ellie and Joel bonded. They relied heavily on each other to survive. When they got to the apostates it was revealed that the blood ritual to create the treatment would kill Ellie. Rather than giving her up, Joel killed everyone who knew about her immunity - including Marlene.
* After, Joel made up a story about how there was nothing that could be done with her immunity and that there was no hope for a Blight treatment. Ellie made the choice to believe him.
* 10 years later and the pair have become a two person mercenary team. They sometimes stay with Joel's brother Thomas, but mostly they travel around taking odd jobs. Ellie wanted to join the Inquisition. Joel was against of the idea of her being near people who might bring up a Blight cure again. This disagreement ended up causing a rift in their relationship. During one particularly bad argument, Joel admitted to Ellie that her immunity might still be used for a cure but that the ritual would result in her death. Furious with him for lying to her, Ellie headed out to Skyhold, with only a letter to explain where she had gone.
Personality
In the 10 years since the Blight, Ellie has become a survivor. She has a hardened sense of what needs to be done to protect those you love. She’s fiercely loyal and dedicated to those she cares about, in part because she has lost so much.
Despite the fact that surviving can harden even the kindest person, Ellie has maintained her own sense of humor and strives to find things that make surviving worthwhile. Living in Denerim before and after the Blight does mean she has seen people at their worst, but she also knows what they are capable of when at their best. This means she has a healthy distrust of strangers, but once someone has earned her trust she believes in them fully and completely.
Ellie has seen and done some things that haunt her; she has memories of what happened when the archdemon attacked and the things she has done after that while surviving. That said, she’s able to put that trauma behind her and focus on tasks at hand. She firmly believes in taking action when needed and not second guessing your gut.
She's known for not taking shit when she doesn't have to and curses as often as she can. She has the mouth of a grizzled old man, at times, and she can drink with the best of them. She likes to think that just adds to her charm.
Despite her rough edges, Ellie is still a good person. Perhaps because she has seen and experienced so much he realizes that one of the only ways that people can make it out alive is by sticking up for one another and believing in each other.
Ellie feels things very intensely. This can mean that she has a bit of a temper, getting angry at people for perceived and real slights. She isn’t entirely irrational and she’s gotten more control of them as she has gotten older, but she still tends to wear her heart on her sleeve when around people she trusts.
As far as people she doesn’t trust, she can have a pretty good poker (Wicked Grace?) face. She's known to use her rough exterior as protection against harm. She also isn’t above cursing out people when they earn it and is very good at making threats. She’s just skilled enough that she can follow up on them too.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Ellie is skilled with two weapon types: bows and daggers. She got her mother's dagger from Marlene during their encounter, along with a letter her mother had written to her. Having that dagger saved her life during the Fifth Blight as she used it against darkspawn. She still clings to it very closely. She learned how to use a bow by hunting and surviving after leaving Denerim.
Her one track mind can allow her to do things that others might find distasteful. If attacked by bandits, she can fight and kill them with little hesitation during the heat of the moment. It's not until after everything has passed that the fact of what she had to do starts to bother her.
Ellie has some terrible night terrors, which makes sleeping on the job a hazard for her.
She also has a tendency to bite off more than she a chew. This happens, in part, because of her one-track mind. When in the heat of the moment, she can only think of what needs to be done, not of if she is capable of actually doing it. That has enabled her to keep going, but it also means that at times she'll get into pretty bad situations with no plan of escape.
Ellie is also very thin and slight. She can use this to her advantage by being agile and flexible, but it means she has very little by way of upper body strength.
Ellie also has above average survival skills when it comes to being out in the woods. She may have been raised in a city, but she can hunt, build fires, maintain camps, etc. She picked all of this up during her journeys with Joel.

Motivation
Ellie still believes in doing what is right. The Inquisition seems like the best place to do that now and it gives her a place to put her skills to good use. This is what made her want to join the Inquisition in the first place, but Joel was so set against it that she didn't join right away. However, every time they came across more news about what the Inquisition was doing she would bring it up again.
Eventually they got into a terrible fight and Joel revealed that the reason he didn't want her near the organization was because of her immunity. She now knows that it could be used to find a treatment but that the only ritual they know that could create that treatment might kill her. She doesn't know what to do with this information and plans on keeping her immunity a secret for now, but that doesn't stop her from being furious at Joel for lying.
She left to join the Inquisition during the night after that fight, with only a letter to explain where she had gone.
